• Responsible for the overall management of the facility.
• Responsible for planning (short and long term) and budgeting
• Responsible for liaison and negotiation with Government
• Responsible for all medical and para-medical staff
• Responsible for volunteer program with over 150 volunteers
• Responsible for communications with both internal and external audiences
• Responsible for liaison and negotiations with Unions
• Responsible for staff recruitment, management and training
• Responsible for IT systems and development
• Responsible for annual fundraising program (about $1 million per annum) |
Achievements: |
• Regarded as the foremost institution of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and was regularly used as a model-site by Government and private practitioners.
• Introduced computerisation.
• Introduced superannuation.
• Supervised the development of architectural specifications for new wing.
• Successfully negotiated strategy for additional 102 beds when all other avenues had failed (included meetings between Board and the Prime Minister).
• Never lost working days over five and a half years due to industrial disputation at a time when health unions were highly militant and had frequently closed down hospitals.
• Achieved very low staff turnover.
• Supervised the introduction of a range of innovative and medically well-regarded stimulation and other para-medical therapies. |
